In our farmer's market I asked one of the local farmers if the
shortage of tomatoes (why is that link "
funny"?) would be good for him. He replied that for several years now, they only wanted huge quanitities that he couldn't provide, and indicated unhappily that mass marketing was the way things went now, and that imports could always solve the problem. I didn't ask him why he didn't just get out of farming. It's no fun to be on the receiving end of creative destruction.
