Economic Illiteracy
Last December, the office of state Attorney General Lisa Madigan notifyied several gas stations that they could donate $1,000 to the American Red Cross or risk being sued for price gouging in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Now they've agreed to donate $1,000 apiece to the American Red Cross. The problem of price gouging indeed. It is indeed extortion.
